With Spring in full bloom, it can only mean one thing - Spring racing!
What I love about the Spring racing carnival, is seeing Melbourne come alive, with everyone taking the opportunity to dress to the nines and go all out. The races are the perfect time to people watch with so many gorgeous outfits in one place.
With the start of the Melbourne Spring racing carnival just a week away, we thought we would put together a few options to help inspire those of you who are attending race day events. From Derby day through to Stakes day, we have you covered.....
Derby Day is the most classic and elegant day of the carnival.Traditionally all about the Black & White, and with our great love of all things Monochrome, this is the perfect match for the Harlow girl. We have paired our must have "Summer diva t-shirt dress" adding white accents with a head piece, shoes and an amazing B&W clutch.
Melbourne Cup day
is all about having fun with your outfit, so opt for bold fashion forward pieces, its the day to make a statement with your outfit, yet still keeping it elegant. Our Black Magic pieces are the perfect fit for the race that stops a nation. With our take on the cut work trend seen on the SS15 runways, whether you choose our "Black Magic LBD"
or go the 2 separates, these pieces
will surely turn heads for all the right reasons. Add a little additional drama with shoes and accessories that continue the cut work trend.
Oaks Day is traditionally all about feminine silhouettes and styling so it’s the perfect opportunity to embrace your more feminine-side. For us that means stepping away from the black and stepping into our showstopping printed "Dark side of the moon shift. Pair this with a fun headpiece, strappy sandals, dramatic jewels and a clutch for the perfect race day look.
Stakes Day also known as 'Family Day' is a more relaxed affair, and is little bit more low key compared to the other carnival days. We have paired our "Blister in the sun Capris" with our "Parallel lines top" for a classic yet casual feel, adding a wide brim hat for a lighter feel and to keep the sun at bay.
A few extra tips:
Consider your shoes carefully, especially if you will be standing all day, also If you will be on the grass day all day, we suggest a wedge or block heel or alternatively try a cap for your stiletto heel, our little secret
have a huge range.
- Pace yourself, drink plenty of water through out the day, a great tip is to match a water for every champagne, not only will it keep you hydrated but will also have you feeling fresh for longer.
- If your wear support wear, make sure its comfortable, there's nothing worse then feeling like your being strangled all day, its important to not only look good, but be comfortable too. Both Bella Bodies & Miss Scarlett did it
have a great range.
- Opt for a bigger clutch that will fit all your essentials and has either a chain to hook over your shoulder or a wrist strap, for ease, juggling your champagne, your clutch & your form guide while trying to Instagram, isn't easy...
If you have any tips (fashion or horses) don't be afraid to pass them on below, we are up for a win! The races are all about the Fashion Darling, so no matter what you decide to wear, remember that the most important thing is to have fun...
**Please note: All Accessories are not Harlow items, they are to help to inspire you in putting together a complete outfit.
Each of these looks can easily be adapted and worn to any race day, or any special occasion / event in the coming Festive months leading up to Christmas & NYE.
